Has anyone looked into the crystal ball this week? Talking about potential
wave prediction. The Biggest Surf Contest to hit these parts since the
RED BULL a few years ago is coming to town. The NERSC is
due to arrive sometime on Thursday. The contest is ON. In other
words, Surf or No surf. They run them. The gig is just too big to relocate,
or to change the dates. It's coming. Having been to a few of these, I
can tell you first hand, that if there's Surf, you will see some high
caliber surfing the likes of which this section of Northern New England
has never seen before.I'm not saying that we don't have our share of good
riders here. We do. Stanek, Casey, Garrett, Billy, Zap, Stevie, Mike
Moran to name a few. Plus we've got a whole stable of other young
rippers who live and surf these waves. And they can surf with the best
of them.
It's just that some of these Southern guys (and girls) can surf in a contemporary
fashion that is slightly above what we're used to seeing. One of them
is Zach Humphries. He was just featured in a photo spread with
Brian Nevins. Zach is the real deal. He won the ESA Championships
last September in Cape Hatteras in some good size surf.
I've seen him surf. He's a freak. In fact, he's in my last Movie NORTH
BY NORTHEAST.
Another notable rider is Rob Kelly. This kid's been spit out from
a family of known rippers. The list goes on and on. I know some of you
are anti-contest and anti crowds.
I hear you. I feel your pain. I used to be like that. In fact, I will
go to my grave having NEVER entered a Surf Contest. However, I see the
good in it (Now). I see the camaraderie of the different district teams.
I see that it breeds team pride. And well, I'm all for the team mentality.
Besides, in this day and age where the kids can easily get led astray
in the wrong circles (both in the Surf scene and out) contests by and
large, are good for the kids. As a parent, I'm all for what's good for
the kids.
It's hard to look at Surfing as a team sport. But in this level where
it's the many different districts from the Mid-Atlantic states
to the Northern New England States competing against each other,
it's hard not to root for the Northern boys.
Like I said. It's a fun and highly competitive atmosphere.
Speaking
of bad influences. Last week, there was a News Conference concerning St
Louis Cardinal pitcher Josh Hancock who was killed the week
before when he smashed his SUV into the back of a tow truck. Turns
out Josh was drunk at the time of the crash, they found a bag of
"pot" in his vehicle, he was NOT wearing seatbelt, he was speeding
and...he was talking on his cellphone. Dam Josh. Strike. Strike.
Strike. Strike. Strike...YER OUT! Look we've all made dumb mistakes
in our lives. But Josh sounded like he had it all going wrong on
this night.
Why is it that some lucky SOB millionaires can't seem to get their shit
together? How many of you would f_ _k up that bad if you had the kind
of cake Josh had? I bet not many. Greedy pompous fools who think
they are above the law and consequences. Man...give me the chance to be
a millionaire. I'd like to experience the temptation of trying not to
mess up. If I win the lottery I'll let a crew follow me around with video
cameras to see if I mess up.
And I'm not sure that alcoholics are suffering from a disease either.
Getting messed up on booze and drugs seems to be just that. I don't believe
it has anything to do with disease. You mean to say that I can catch some
booze and drug virus if you're an alcoholic and you sneeze on me? Or,
if I eat the wrong food I can suddenly turn into an alcoholic? Sorry.
Alcohol and drug abuse is caused by the individual person inhaling the
shit. Not some freaking airborne virus, or blood borne disease, or even
something hereditary. I don't know. It just seems to be another easy cop
out excuse. I think it's more a behavioral problem.
Don't equate Alcoholism with cancer or heart disease.
I'm sure all you cancer survivors out there will agree with me. It would
of been nice to beat cancer with some 12 step program wouldn't it? Just
like I'm sure someone with an alcohol and or drug problem would love to
get a shot of Chemo to cure their problem. Both serious problems.
Just not the same.

And
how about Paris Hilton going to jail!!! Oh man wouldn't we all
like to be a cockroach in the corner of her cell in June. Here's
another case of some rich, out of touch, loser celebrity, thinking that,
the rules that all of us "regular folk" have to adhere to,
do not apply to her standards. Ha! It's beautiful. Dam, that would be
something to see. Paris in jail. I'm sorry, but this clown thinks
she can get popped for drunk driving, lose her license and then go back
out and get stopped not once more, but twice? You dumb ass Paris!
You's going to jail bitch! This ain't no Hilton either girl.
No sir. How does a 8 by 12 foot cell with an open toilet sound? And
no designer jeans and or makeup. Nosirreebobbee, this celebrity loser
will be wearing the standard orange jump suit. LA county jails
for women can't be good.
Look, if this shit ever happened to you or me, we'd be inside the big
house in a heart beat. These freaking loser celebs think they can get
away with all kinds of shit. Well, I guess some have (OJ Simpson,
Robert Blake and Phil Spectar), or maybe she thought, with all the
shit that Brittany Spears recently got away with, that there
was no way some judge would throw the book at her.
Welcome to our world Paris.
I wonder if there will be a new video circulating over the Internet
in a few months? The Paris Hilton Jail Tapes.
So you all know by now that the Patriots signed Randy Moss!
I had several friends call and ask my opinion and some others who called
to say they were disgusted. Look I say bring em all on. Keshawn Johnson,
Terrell Owens...and whoever else that fits that bill. We could
have our own criminal receiver corps. Belichick could draw up
plays around these guys.
" ALL OUT -LOSER RIGHT. Or LOSER POST LOSER SLANT on 3".
Look, Randy Moss can help our team. Everyone deserves a second
chance. And the man wants a ring. What better team to reach that goal
with than our own New England Patriots? I've heard several reliable
sources say that,' on paper we look to be the best.' You know what I
say right? "We don't play on paper. We play on the field. And anything
can happen out there."
But you know what? It's baseball season. Who cares about the Patriots
right now? You've got yourselves one hell of a baseball team with the
Boston Red Sox. Take advantage of the good times now. Cuz come
late August things could change...for the worse.
One more time...don't forget. May 11-13 ESA-NNE Regional Surf
Contest at the Wall. Oh and I almost forgot this (duh). Saturday
night at the Ashworth there's a massive banquet/raffle/party that YOU
are all invited to. The price I believe is $20 and that includes a meal.
The raffle and getting listen and rock out to the Original Rock and
Blues band The NOR'EASTERS with special guests local band Kings
Highway. I play in the Nor'easters along with my brother
Johnny and bassist Whitey and Lenny on drums. If
you like the guitar driven sound of Stevie Ray meets Jimi
Hendrix then you'll dig the Nor'easters. The Regionals
being hosted by the local branch of the ESA...NNE (Northern
New England) . Check it www.esa-nne.org
Happy Birthday to Jay Gould May 7th,
Leah Grondin May 8th and Gabby Fatello May 9th.
And...it's Tony Szabo's birthday May 9th too!
I can't believe Leah and Gabby are turning 17!!!!
How the hell did that happen?
