It's been a difficult week for the family and friends of Danny Miller.
The family has publicly thanked everyone for their prayers and support
throughout this terrible tragedy. There will be a "Surfers Paddle"
at a future date for Danny. And it will more than likely be up
here in New Hampshire. So stay tuned to this site, and all the
other New England sites, as well as all the Surf shops for info
on the Paddle.
On a personal note, I want to thank all of you who sent positive emails
to me over the week about the Tribute
to Danny.
I'm glad you all got something good out of it. It's pretty simple. Love
and respect. When things like this happen to a young surfer, it's nice
to see the true support and strength in so many of you come together in
our Surfing community. And to those of you who went back and looked at
North By Northeast to see Danny's
waves and wrote me about it, I again thank you.
I'm going to leave the info about Danny's young son Landon's
foundation up for quite a while. So, if you can help out, I'm sure
his family and friends will appreciate it. And I know little Landon
will too, when he's old enough to realize what you Surfers did for him
in Memory of the father he never knew.
Who ever said Surfers are a bunch of losers who will never amount to anything,
never met the likes of all of you. I'm proud to be a New England surfer.
You know the Super Bowl came and went and it was pretty uneventful
for me. As I'm sure it was for a lot of you out there. It was just a painful
reminder that our New England Patriots would of beaten the BEARS
had we played them. I guess I'm still not fully recovered over the AFC
Championship game loss to the COLTS. It's still a bitter pill
to swallow. Dam...it was 21-3 and they lost. That really happened right?
I mean I'm not in some kind of wacked out dream am I?
Then this whole Anna Nicole Smith story...I mean come on. Look,
I know she's a celebrity and all, and she's the 21st century version
of Marilyn Monore, but is she really worth, the kind of publicity
that all the news stations have given her this week? Or, are we truly
so messed up in our society, and the world at large, that this warrants
this kind of coverage? Like we need a release from all the other bad news?
Our collective escape from reality?

And how about the fact, that not only have we not had any decent surf
in the last few weeks, but it's actually been freezing out. I mean it's
been cold. Real cold. Flat and cold. This sucks. Although I think, we
may see a potential Nor'easter forming below us midweek. I have
not seen the weather today, so I may be wrong here. But
I believe something's coming. And it could be significant. So dust off
your Big Wave boards just in case. Get the 6 mils and 5mils
ready. We might actually be surfing!
All you boys and girls that are returning from the tropics this week
will be in shape for this potential swell while the rest of us will
be chipping away at the rust. I'm not sure about snowfalll. Not that
snow ever stopped us before. But this could be big. I hope I didn't
jinx this swell before it gets here. It's just that we've been getting
skunked for so long it's getting scary. Maybe there is something going
on with the weather. Look at the snow in Upstate New York! Are
you kidding me? What did they get, something like 14' in a few
days? Whoa. That's nuts.
Speaking of Snow...I've heard from several reliable sources that there
is Snow up North. And the crowds have been thin. Seriously. My friends
have been reporting fresh stuff and man made snow for some good skiing
and boarding. So get on up to them thar hills kids. Don't let this winter
be a complete bust. Hit the slopes.
Are there any Celtics fans out there? Man...that's some hurtful
ball. Last I heard it was 17 consecutive losses and counting. Now that
has got to hurt. In fact, The Patriots season seems pretty dam
good to me now. See, ya just gotta open yer eyes to find the good and
positive.
Once again, here's the info on Danny Miller's 4 month old son. Thank
you for helping out.
