There’s nothing scarier than a fire. We all watch fires on the news almost every week. And unless it directly involves you, it’s just a 3-5 minute news story, before it’s onto the next story.
But when it happens to someone you love?
Well, that’s a whole different story. Thank God nobody was hurt on Friday August 19th, 2022 when a fire swept through Cinnamon Rainbows, North Beach Bar & Grille, and Secret Spot. Cinnamon Rainbows lost their ENTIRE inventory (excluding boards and wetsuits) to smoke damage, and has been closed ever since. The lingering after effects of the fire have caused so much stress and upheaval in the Cinnamon Rainbows community.
With their entire inventory lost due to severe smoke damage, and with no electricity and power, they have been operating sporadically outside under tents. There is, however, light at the end of the tunnel. They will find temporary housing for the shop sometime in October. Until then, the immediate shut down of what we are all so used to in the community is a painful loss.
The staff has lost wages and there’s no way to continue in the limited
capacity they are dealing with working outside.
*Click on the photo above to make a donation
So many people have reached out asking what they can do to help. It’s been overwhelming how many people have wanted to do something. It’s no secret that Cinnamon Rainbows plays a major role in our seacoast community. Without Cinnamon Rainbows there would be no Surfing With Smiles. Without Cinnamon Rainbows there would be no Wounded Warriors/ Hit The Beach Day. And it’s certainly no secret that Dave Cropper is one of the nicest people in all of the seacoast. Heck, he’s one of the nicest people on the whole planet.
And the last thing he and Heather want to do, is ask for help. That’s not who they are. And that’s exactly why we’re going to do it for them. It’s time we helped them.
Whatever you can donate to help Cinnamon Rainbows get through this down time, would be greatly appreciated. They will be back in a temporary location soon. Until they are back permanently on the beach, Dave, Heather, Phil, and Caroline and the rest of the staff at CR could use your help. I know I’m not alone when I say, let’s lend them a hand. The way they have helped so many of us before this fire hit. Because, they have earned our love, and our respect.
And you all know, that once they are back in business to their fullest capacity, they will be helping others just like they have in the past. Let us all help them today. Whatever you can afford will go a long way in helping the good people at Cinnamon Rainbows. Thank you.
With much Love and Respect,
Ralph G. Fatello

The 30th ANNIVERSARY SURF FAMILY ROBINSON BEACH PARTY HAS COME AND GONE.
And while it is 30 years since i started this party, it's really only the 29th actual SFR due to COVID. We had to shut down in 2020. Along with the rest of the world.
So next year will be the 30th gathering. You guys following me here?
I shot a bunch of photos and they are down in the gallery section. It's funny, I made
a causal observance as I walked around the SFR camp. I only knew about 10% of the kids who were in attendance. My own grandchildren and a few others. And that made me feel good, that the magic of SFR lives on.
The man who plays PIRATE JONAS was only a year old when we had the very first one.
And now he's terrifying young children and making all the moms and dads chuckle at the absurd battle between Pirate Jonas and Captain Duffy. The magic still lives as does the absurdity of my silly Silver Dollar Treasure maps.
Pirate Jonas showed up again looking for his treasure map and his dog "STINKY". Not to mention his nemesis Capt Vince with whom he has a
lifelong feud with. .
The battle between good and evil is always a crowd pleaser. The kids love it as do the parents. And next year there's going to be TWICE the action. So you'll just have to tune in to 2023 for the epic battle.
Until then, May the spirit of SURF FAMILY ROBINSON live in your hearts and minds until next Labor Day Weekend.
"SURF FAMILY ROBINSON HEALS ALL WOUNDS."

From the Ed O'Connell galleries. His name is Phillip and he's from England. I don't remember much more about this guy. But I know that Ed was always going to England. So he must have made that connection. August 2008. Photo by Ed O'Connell

NOW FOR SOME LOCAL AND NATIONAL NEWS
The annual GWOT SEPTEMBER 11th Observance that I started in 2006 is adding two more names to our sacred monument. This is always a somber day for our country and it's always been a well received gathering since the very first one. With the adding of two names and a remembrance of not only what happened that day, but the war that followed 9/11.
The war that I'm afraid will never end. The war on Terror is forever.
I strongly believe that there are terrorists who have not been born yet, that our children and grandchildren will be fighting. That seething hate they have for us, will always be there. No matter what party is sitting in the White House. Thank God both parties are on the same page when it comes to fighting terrorism.
KSM Photoshop of the Week
Speaking of 9-11. The man who came up with flying airplanes into buildings, Ole Khaliddy Sheik Mohammed is not happy with these recent heat waves. KSM has filed a complaint with the maintenance department at GITMO. I guess he and his camels along with his goats have AC issues. Not that anyone really gives a rats ass about them. But the Sheik feels that his celebrity status at GITMO is more deserving of something more than an old window fan. The guards however feel differently. Think about how hot that burning jet fuel was, when it hit the towers on 9-11-01.
Sorry Sheik, you the goats, and the camels are gonna have to suck it up until winter.
And so my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).

REST IN PEACE ARTHUR WARDLE
Artie and Mickey were our next door neighbors for 31 years. Cory and I, and our three children Gabby, Max, and Noelle grew up in Hampton and had the distinct pleasure of having Artie be the very first Santa Claus they ever met in their lives. And he was absolutely wonderful. Albeit, he was always a little on the thin side for Santa, but, he more than made up for his lack of padding, with his great sense of humor.
The thin Santa Claus with a New York accent.
And when I was Commander for 13 years at the American Legion Post 35 in Hampton, Artie always marched in the Memorial day parade in his original uniform. He was so proud of his service. And being a fellow Vietnam vet we had much in common, and we would speak about the war in private or with other Vietnam vets. I can still see him stepping off in his original uniform. High stepping his way through town.
Heck, I can still see Artie and Mickey walking all over town. I used to feel guilty driving by them, because they would walk everywhere.
I know your faith is deep. So I am sure he is with Jimmy and Linda today. And I believe that you will all be together again in heaven.
Thank you Artie for all the laughs over the years. You were a good man, who served your country in war, and again at HPD. They don't make them like you anymore Artie.
Rest easy old friend, and May God continue to watch over your loved ones.

Yesterday- THE VERY FIRST SURF FAMILY ROBINSON.
30 Years Ago this Labor day Weekend.
(Below) The very first one was just a handful of surfers and their kids. I ran this party for 25 years before handing it over to Duffy McCarthy the last 5 years. *Actually the last 4 years, we had to take a year off due to the pandemic. I'm happy to report that 30 years later, the magic of SURF FAMILY ROBINSON lives on. Every Labor Day Weekend End Since 1992.

I kept a daily Blog on my CATCH A WAVE FOR MOLLY surf campaign, when I surfed every single day for 365 consecutive days. Click on the Banner above to read entries of my daily journey. There's some really interesting and true experiences
that happened during that year. Some of which are to this day, unexplainable. Some are just mind blowing. But all true.
I started on July 26th, 2010 and ended on July 26th, 2011.
Some rainy Sunday, pour yourself a cup and go through the journal.
Pay close attention to the month of May in 2011. Read that month and let me know what you think of that. Be forewarned it will change you forever.
