THE BEST OF 2021 VIDEO POSTED.
A SOLID WEEK OF WAVES. BIDEN CALLS PUTIN A "BUTCHER," WHILE STATING "PUTIN CANNOT STAY IN POWER."
HAPPY 27th To My Sweetie Boid!

This is exactly what it sounds like. The year of surfing in Northern New England. From January 2021 to December 2021. The Biggest and the Best waves of the year being surfed by the local men and women who know these spots the best when it's going off. The video by the way is at the top of this homepage. Just hit play and sit back and watch it all unfold. But before you hit play, go and pour yourself a cup of coffee.
Why? Because it's longer than your average Tik Tok video.
Pretend it's one of your favorite one hour TV shows you watch every week. Pretend it's the latest HULU series or NETFLIX show. You can all handle one of those shows. You can do the same here. Or, just watch it in increments. You know, by the season. Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. I even have a short segment on SURFING WITH SMILES and The Wounded Warriors HIT THE BEACH. Like I said, it's the year of surf related experiences. The soundtrack is worth it alone.
My super talented nephew Jesse Ciarmataro AKA Qwill provides the most soulful tunes that he wrote, performed, and produced himself. Seriously, it's worth listening to just for his amazing tunes alone. qwillmusic.com
I tried counting all the surfers I recognized in this video. I think it was like 60 something. But there were also about 20 that I could not ID. So...I guess you;ll have to watch it yourself to see if you're in this edit. Here's a few video frame grabs from the movie.
The exotic coast of New England. This was during Hurricane Larry.
Here's a closer look. FYI this was double overhead.
Oh and it was pretty hollow too. Just ask Perry Reynolds here.
And speaking of legends. Mr Johnny "JIM" Meehan.
This particular VFG (Video Frame Grab) is from one of the clips that Martha Lardent shot. This is Stevie O'Hara at Hair Pin Curve.
And this is one of the UNKNOWN Surfers. Martha Lardent video.
And another unknown. Martha Lardent shot this too.
MVF doing what he loves to do at his favorite wave. Pine Cone Cove.
What does Kevin call him? Oh yeah, "Pevmatic." I just call him Pev.
Tyler Moore doing his most flamboyant double bird
flipping ride I have ever witnessed. And Bless her heart, because Martha captured it all on video.
Check out the size of this wave. Unknown VFG by Martha Lardent.
Ryan Olsen pulling in under the pitching lip. VFG by Martha Lardent.
I had to include one of the local women. This is Nohea Nichols
Some are saying that he's as good as his father when it comes to riding
in the barrel. Kody Grondin is a chip off the old block.
Speaking of sons of the local surf dads. Kainalu Nichols is in a league of his own when it comes to getting barreled and everything else for that matter.
These are just a small sampling of what that video holds. Watch the video and remember the days we had in 2021. It was in my honest opinion, ONE HELL OF A YEAR. Just hit play at the top of this page, and then just sit back and enjoy the show.
Finally, thank you for all the positive feeback of my new monthly
feature LOCAL LEGENDS. Peter Stokes had an interesting story to tell.
I've already got the next three years lined up. If you liked the first one, you'll love the others too!

This is what I lovingly refer to as CEMENTLAND. AKA The WALL. Seeing how we spend more than half of our lives surfing this 2 mile stretch of cement and granite, it seemed appropriate that I run this pic that Ed shot on March 20th, 2008. *Though if you look closely, Ed was focused on that orange surfboard, because it was so close to Easter. NOW FOR SOME LOCAL AND NATIONAL NEWS
"PUTIN CANNOT REMAIN IN POWER."
And with those words, President Biden upped the ante of the world inching closer to WWIII, and quite possibly, a Nuclear war. Most of you have been paying attention to the world news, so you're already aware of what's been going on in Ukraine.
Biden met with NATO leaders the last few days and he reiterated his stance to Ukraine "WE STAND WITH YOU."
Well, that all depends on where you're standing sir.
Because we are certainly not standing with Zelensky on the front lines. And when asked about Putin by a reporter, Biden called him a "Butcher." In some neighborhoods those would be fighting words. I'm guessing that both of those statements ruffled what few feathers Putin has on his head. We are living in dangerous times.
It truly is dammed if we do and dammed if we don't.
And while the war in Ukraine has been raging on 24-7 the Little nut Case in North Korea launched a couple of missiles that fell off the coast of Japan last week. Boy when it rains it pours. China is also in the wings of this perplexing puzzle. Look, I'm not saying we are facing a doomsday scenario, but things could suddenly escalate if one or two things happen. Putin uses chemical weapons, and he gets too close to NATO borders. If one of those happens? All bets are off. I just hope we are all prepared for what might come next. Say a prayer friends, say a prayer.
And there they stand. The NATO leaders. Looks like Boris needs help buttoning his suit coat. And while they are smiling posing for pictures, Ukraine is being systematically destroyed.
Try and imagine what it would be like if this was Boston or Portsmouth? We'd be up in arms. We would demand help NOW!
Meet Sarah Jane Cavaugh from Rhode Island.
Notice she is wearing a USMC Dress Blues uniform. Also note her rank, she's a SSGT. Now look at her medals. She's wearing
a Purple Heart (wounded in action) and a Bronze Star for valor.
Pretty impressive huh? No it's not. It would be, if she was legit.
This is a photo of STOLEN VALOR.
You see,
Sarah never served a single day in the Marines, or any other branch of service for that matter. Sarah bilked the Wounded Warrior Project out of $200,000 by claiming she had lung cancer from the burn pits in Iraq. She stole a REAL veteran's DD214 documents and forged her name onto his precious piece of paper. She also became commander of a local VFW (Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post). And she was a guest speaker at a service honoring women veterans. Talk about a disgrace.
She is more than likely going to jail. I say good riddance Sarah.
But this below is 100% legit. REAL VETERANS Helping
other Veterans. If you are a vet living on the seacoast

Yesterday- THE BOYS ON THE NORTH SHORE.
Doc, Vince, and Zap.
January 1988.
This is funny. What the camera does not tell you is how I literally forced Kevin and Zappy to paddle out into conditions that I personally wanted no part of. But then again, I am not a Big Wave Surfer nor do I pretend that I like big waves. I like to film Big Waves, especially if my friends are thinking about riding them. But this day? It was big and sketchy. Which meant for me anyway, that I would get some dramatic footage. And I did. I kept saying to them both "Stop thinking about your own fears and think about the boys back home when they see this footage. You need to paddle out and PULL IN FOR THE BOYS BACK HOME!" I finally got to them and they hit. And you know what? I did get some great footage of them both riding some Big Hawaiian Surf.
But it took me awhile to convince them both.

I kept a daily Blog on my CATCH A WAVE FOR MOLLY surf campaign, when I surfed every single day for 365 consecutive days. Click on the Banner above to read entries of my daily journey. There's some really interesting and true experiences
that happened during that year. Some of which are to this day, unexplainable. Some are just mind blowing. But all true.
I started on July 26th, 2010 and ended on July 26th, 2011.
Some rainy Sunday, pour yourself a cup and go through the journal.
Pay close attention to the month of May in 2011. Read that month and let me know what you think of that. Be forewarned it will change you forever.

(Above) And this? This is Pev styling out at Pine Cone Cove. I shot a few clips of video of him earlier, but as I was leaving, he caught this wave, and walked up to the nose. I loved the long shot with the tree and sky.
And Pev just perched up there on the nose. He's one of a handful of exceptional longboarders we have up here.
