October 2nd, 2016 The RUN is 9 out of 9 Weeks.
Waist high or better at least once a week.
There was waist high plus surf throughout the week. |

Losing my friend George Masten last week is going to take some getting used to. I never knew a single person who didn't like George. He was a friend to so many. We had a beautiful service for him. Both at Remicks funeral home
in Hampton
and the graveside service in North Hampton. The Marine Corps contingent was there to fold the flag. We had our firing squad, and there was a large group of veterans present. Hell, we even had a police escort from Hampton to North Hampton cemetery. Thank you Chief Sawyer.
George would of loved it.
And leave it to George to be cremated and put into an artillery shell.
If you knew George, you wouldn't be the least surprised. Not in the least.
The reception at the American Legion Post was adorned with all kinds of George Masten's memorabilia. His covers (hats), his uniforms, and his flag.
I made a few large sized posters covering his time in War and at home
in the Legion. They are below in this column. You can click on them to see
a larger version of each one. George was a local legend.
As I said last week, George was a Marine's Marine. Having fought in both Korea and in Vietnam. And wounded in Vietnam in 1967 that cut his career short, he still lived and acted like he was still in the Corps.
He was a proud Marine Corps veteran. And he earned every medal, badge, and stripe. Being a Marine, and being around George, was one of my life's greatest honors and privilege. I'm sure those Marines who served in combat with him would say the same.
Seems so strange to me, that I won't see him wearing this salty old cover again. Look, I understand life and death. I've dealt with it my entire adult life. It's just that George was one of those individuals who cheated death so many times, you'd never think of him giving up the ghost, to something like cancer.
I hate cancer. We have all lost too many friends and relatives to cancer.
Why doesn't Donald Trump put his millions towards curing cancer?
Click on these posters to see a larger version of each.
There's got to be a few hundred pics in these posters I did.
So George Masten is gone from this earth. And for those of us who knew and loved him, our world will be a lot less colorful, without his presence. But the world, was a far better place when he was with us. Rest In Peace Marine.
Now for something completely different than George.
This individual was just spotted at one of the more popular NH beaches.
This species of Surfer has been named
*KOOK AMONG US*. If spotted be forewarned, that while he poses no great danger out of the water, in the
water, it may become quite hazardous to actual surfers.
His unique choice of rubber can be spotted for hundreds of yards away.
If you find yourself near one of these KOOKAMONGUS, do not attempt to communicate with it. Simply push it towards the rocks, where it can climb up onto them, and wait until one of it's own species collects it, and takes it back to where it came from. And God only knows where that is.
REPEAT KOOKAMONGUS
Spotted at NH beach today October 2nd, 2016.
As for the rest of...looky here at what's coming kids!
Hurricane Matthew is worth keeping and eye on.

This is easily one of my all time favorite pics that Ed ever shot in his life. The surfer is Markey J, the spot is Lumpy Lobsters. Clearly a perfect wave. I remember the first time I saw this pic. It stopped me dead in my tracks. All the elements came together in this one image.
To see more of Ed's pics just scroll through the archives. He has shot so many pics for the blog. Be sure and pick up a copy of the COLD COAST and check out Ed's own gallery.
Each week I will feature one of Ed's great pics from this blog.

I have not not seen or heard of a paid purse for a surfing contest in these waters for as long as I can remember. But Sid and the crew at Water Brothers are doing just that.
See above and get that $100 entry fee in.
Now for Some More Of My Weekly Global Observances
The 3-0 NE Patriots face off against the 0-2 Bills today at home in Foxboro. Jimmy G will not be starting. Instead, Jacoby Brissett will get the call. And really? Does it make a difference? In a word...NOPE.
By the end of today, I believe the Patriots will be 4-0. Oh poor Roger...poor Roger.
That 4 game suspension really hurt the team Rog. All you have done, is awakened a sleeping giant. Because number 12 is coming back next week. Ha!
**** This just in. Pats losing 13-0 at the half. *** PATS LOSE 16-) first ever Shutout in the new stadium and first shutout since 1993.
I suppose this means there will be no talk about keeping Jimmy G or Jacoby B over number 12. Tom Brady is our QB and he's coming back. 3-1? With back-up QB's? I'll take it.
You all better start getting used to this.
Bearing some incredible
news story that will break her, this woman will be your next president. And you can blame it all on TRUMP.
Even with his endorsement of Clown Don King. Ha! What a joke this year has been. You know, you can't make this shit up.
The only long shot is really these two.
That guy Johnson? Another idiot. Weld and Ralph? Why not.
KSM Photoshop of the Week
After getting his ass kicked in the first debate, TRUMP has been pulling out all the stops trying to right his sinking ship. This photo
showing KSM as one of his advisors is not boding well with the women. How can KSM save the woman vote? By offering free burkas to them? I mean WTF?
???
As always... take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).
*Note to self -must pick up a case of pink burkas for the wife
and daughters at Home Depot this week.

Yesterday- "Pete" at the Pool Hall in Beverly 1971.
(Below) This place was the gathering place for all of the young "hip" men in Beverly in the 1960's-early 70's. I can remember year after year of watching the older kids go and come back from Vietnam. I can recall with vivid detail talking with them. They all gave us good advice. Rotating young men to and back to the war. Strange times.
If you look closely you can see the reflection of the surfboards on top of the roof of the vehicle I was driving. We were on our way to surf a secret spot down on the North Shore when I spotted Peter standing in his familiar spot and pose. This image will resonate with all the men whoever walked through those doors. Rest in peace Peter, you were a good man.
