The warm waters of Indian Summer, wait I'm sorry, my bad, I meant to say, the warm water of Native American Summer...
oh the hell I did not! Please give me a freaking break!

I am sick of the politically correct mindset we all have been forced to live in. But before I get into that, I need to address the graphic above.
I have had this warning (above) on the entry page for at least 5 years but I think some of you have this main blog page bookmarked, and never get to see it. So better safe than sorry.

That and the fact that I had a couple of readers complain to my friends and sponsors about some of my tongue and cheek comments last week, I figured I'd post this here less any of you forget. So pay close attention here kids. This is a simple statement.

This is my blog. My opinion. What I say is my own opinion. And it does NOT reflect on anyone else. It's me. And honestly? Who gives a Rat's Ass what I say anyway? My opinion is just that. I am reminded of an old saying that I was always quite fond of, it goes like this

"Opinions are like assholes...everyone has one."

If any of you have a problem with what I say and blog, feel free to contact me directly. I'd be happy to engage you one on one. Especially if you are a beginner, or as we fondly refer to you newbies as, a "Kook." But we say it with love. Because the truth is, we ALL start out as kooks, and we all end up as kooks. All of us. Makes no difference what you ride. Shortboards, Longboards, boogie boards, SUPS, Kayaks, and Gondolas.

Kook to Kook. The evolution of a wave rider.

My email is all over this blog. But here it is again, just in case you can't seem to figure it out. ralph@adlantic.com

I'm always open to discussing whatever subject you'd like to talk about. And for the record. I don't hate anyone, except the true evil doers of this world. ISIS, AL QEADA, Murderers, rapists, etc etc.

Speaking of friends and sponsors. I had a great surf session on Monday with Dave Cropper of Cinnamon Rainbows at the Wall. We shared some really fun waves in super warm water. It was Crop, myself, Noreen Lynch, and Erica Nardone seen here.

The water was so warm. It was truly INDIAN Summer. Yes I said Indian...and NOT Native American Summer. I mean good lord, are we that paranoid about offending the descendent's of the Natives who lived here before we arrived?

Look I'm Italian, I am not offended by any of the silly Italian accents that people use. Or the stereo type connections with being Italian. And look, it's Columbus Day. My main Goomba Christopher "Chris" Columbus discovered America on this day. Can't we all just knock it the f- - - off? And lighten up.

These are the Washington Redskin Cheerleaders. Are they offending the Native Americans? What if some of them were in fact Native Americans? It's silly. It's crazy. There are so many sports teams in all sports that could be offensive, if we wanted to get crazy about it. I think we all need to take a collective deep breath and chill.

I always make it a point to go out on Columbus Day and discover something new. Whether it be a new surf break or a some secret spot that holds my other favorite pastime and that would be___________
What? Did you think I would tell you what my other love is? Ha! No way...that's my secret and I share it with only those who are truly close to me. Suffice it say, it is one of life's greatest pleasures for me. And I share it with those who are truly close to my heart.

That means the masses are kept in the dark.

The water has been warm all week. And it's still warm (well for our standards). High 50's is still warm. It makes for the best surfing of the year in my honest opinion. Check out my friend Duffy McCarthy here.

He does not need those boots on his feet, but then again he's a dad now and I can say without any question, the older you get the colder you get. I know this first hand. Still, the water is still warm enough for 3/2's with NO gloves. Booties won't hurt. But please don't be donning hoods yet because I will give you my honest opinion if I see you in a hood when it's 75 degrees out and the water temp is in the high 50's

And I might not be that user friendly kind of nice either. But hey, that's why you read this weekly babble. And it's just that. Babble. In fact, I should call it Ralph's Babble Of The Week.

I made the mistake of opening my big mouth two weeks ago after the Pats vs the Chiefs (oh oh there's another name we need to change) game and said that we were witnessing the beginning of the end of the Tom Brady.

Boy was I wrong. Thank God.

I ate crow that following week when they murdered the Bengals (another offensive name hurting the feelings of all the Bengal Tigers). And this week was the ultimate challenge for the team. They played the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo. It was to be a defining moment for their season. And they answered the call.

They smoked the Bills. Smoked them. 37-22. But it came with a high cost. Jerod Mayo and Stevan Ridley. Not sure how bad the injury to either one of them are, but it did not look good. Ugh. They play the Jets this Thursday night. So it's a short week. We should beat the Jets and beat them soundly.

Let's hope that Ridley and Mayo will be back soon.

"Ed's Corner" pic this week is one from February 14th, 2014.
This is one of Ed's favorite angles. I can still close my eyes and see him standing there shooting across the bay. I will be having a whole winter gallery of Ed's in my COLD COAST movie coming this Fall and this photo will be one of the many of Ed's I'll be using.
Each week I will feature one of Ed's great pics from this blog.

Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances

The big story this week is of course the Ebola outbreak. It is big and it is not going away anytime too soon. You know, I am aware that many of you love the current president. It makes no difference what he does or does not do, there are some of you who love him no matter what. I personally respect him, and the office he holds, but I do not agree with so many of the policies he has implemented.

For instance, his refusal to use ground troops in the current campaign against ISIS, yet he has no problem committing ground troops to go to Africa and fight Ebola? Did I miss something here? I mean that sounds crazy to me. Why send troops to Africa to deal with Ebola and not send them to do what they have been trained to do? Am I missing something here?

The president I'm afraid has lost touch with this Ebola outbreak.

Meanwhile, let's all take a minute, and enjoy the weekly
humiliation of the mastermind terrorist who killed 3,000 innocent civilians on September 11th, 2001. Here we see our boy KSM with the actors of the NEW Movie EBOLA BOLA . Seen here with Dustin Hoffman in their Hazmat suits.

Khalid Sheik Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind behind 9-11
the captured Al Qeada ICON is getting his weekly slap in the
face. You're welcome KSM fans.

* Note to self: Must pick up a case of Hazmat suits at Home
Depot this week.

Some of my old super 8mm movie footage that I shot in the early 70's. There's some cool footage of Jay Hammer from across the bay. And there's some classic footage of Jeff "Berts" Obst, Joe "Manse" Somogyi, Kevin "Doc" Grondin, and Steve "Neddie" Nelson. There's even a quick clip of me. Though if you blink you'll miss me.

I used Robin Trower as a sound track because, we LOVED Trower back in those days.

It just goes to show you, that we had great waves years ago here in New England and we still do. And, Trower still sounds good. That's the late Jimmy Dewar singing.

Rest in Peace Joe and Neddie. And Jimmy Dewar...

This is the updated trailer with additional footage from PAX. The named storms of Winter 2013-2014 are featured in this impressive winter season of snow, surf, and freezing temps. The local surfers here in New England have been charging all winter. Look for Weston Rogers, Jesse Gould, Max Fatello, Joel Feid, Lenny and Kai Nichols, Johnny and Perry Reynolds, Steve O'hara and a host of others.

The music for this clip is Robin Trower. Look for a late March release from SURF FREE OR DIE and Ralph's Pic Of The Week
