STELLA! STELLA! STELLA! STELLA! STELLA! STELLA!

Take a look at this. You recognize it? That's right it's frozen water.

It was at the base of 10th Street. Frozen like a rock. Brought to you by winter storm STELLA. This was on Thursday the 16th. Guess what? It's still there. Waiting for some fool like me to slip and break their neck. Oh Stella you were one nasty bitch of a Storm. Trees down, wires down, no power, accidents, fires, and just the coldest wind and snow that we have had all winter. In fact, it may have been the coldest in the last 10 years or so.

This outside my home office. That snow is like cement. It ain't moving.

I messed up on this one. I waited until the storm was over before I tried to shovel. Uh uh. Not gonna happen. It froze overnight and as a result we are living in the worst driveway and paths that I can ever remember. If it wasn't for Gary none of our vehicles would have gotten out. The snow turned into a frozen nightmare. My question is how the hell did March and February switch places on the calendar. Right. They got it ass backwards.

Anybody interested in some sugar coated boulders? No? me either.

There was a beautiful sunrise. But that wind. Cut right through you.

My new heavy duty gloves that my daughter got me for Christmas were not enough to keep the digits warm. I thought my fingers were going to fall off.
Now look, I'm not complaining, just pointing things out to you. We did have
great waves and the results are in this blog. We have hundreds of stills and I did a web edit as well. It's all in the Blog this week.

It's just that these temps were January February temps. Certainly not March.
What's that March saying "Comes in like a Lion but goes out like a lamb?" Wrong. It was the complete opposite.

Look at these two frozen surfers. They actually froze in place like this. Ha!

That snow that Mackey is standing in, was really blocks of ice. I am not kidding, nor am I exaggerating. It's still like that. Some four days later.
Lumpy chunky blocks of frozen snow and ice. It won't melt with these lower temps. The snowblower can't cut through that stuff. I need dynamite.

Right outside my door. Now this isn't right people. I was afraid to break
the ice for fear of breaking the delicate branches. This is not March weather.
Though, I am happy for the riders and skiers. They get another blast of snow to get their late season kicks in. So have it kids there's plenty of the white
stuff awaiting you all. Get on it!

This week's pic from Ed's corner was shot on September 22, 2013. The surfer is an unknown woman. It was only 4 years ago, so if any of you recognize her let her know, she's on Ed's corner this week.

To see more of Ed's pics just scroll through the archives. He has shot so many pics for the blog. Each week I will feature one of Ed's great pics from this blog. Photo by Ed O'Connell

Now for Some More Of My Weekly Global Observances
The Patriots signed Donta Hightower, but we all still waiting on number 21, Malcolm Butler. Please Bill. Please resign this man.

Together they make up a crucial part of that solid defense.

Two Legends passed away this week. James Cotton and Chuck Berry. I had the pleasure of playing with James Cotton several times at a local blues club. In fact, one time I had to bring him home to give him something to eat and sober him up before dropping him off at a local blues player's home.

He used to bust our balls. The Nor'easters were his back up band whenever he came to town. He would purposely count off a song and the key he was playing but do it in a manner that you could not understand a single word he said. It was funny. Because we were on to him. And he knew it. James was 81 years old.

Legend Rock and Roller Chuck Berry died yesterday at age 90.
I mean what can you say about Chuck Berry? He was the originator
of Rock and Roll. The songs he wrote and the stage antics were truly legendary. I don't know of many bands in the 60's, 70's, and 80's who didn't appreciate and admire the songs that he did. RIP Mr Berry.

Local comic Jimmy Dunn is out on the West Coast doing his MONSTAH TOUR. Here check this out.

Look if you're in the area, check out one of Boston's Best comics.

KSM Photoshop of the Week
How cold was STELLA? Just ask the world's ugliest terrorist KSM. He had just finished watching The Shining when Stella hit. He went to see what all the commotion was...and well, see for yourselves. This Al Qeada genius got frozed up real good like. He sho don't look happy.

So my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).

*Note to self -must pick up a case of Ice Melt this week

STELLA March 15-2017 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

What is there to say about a storm that kicked the living snot out of the Seacoast? Well, how about the downed trees, power outages, accidents, fires, snow that turned into cement, and what else? Oh yeah I remember, INSANE SURF! And it lasted for two days. Crazy but beautiful. The surfers in this web edit that I remember are: Kai Nichols, Perry Reynolds, Chris Stelman, Max Fatello, Tom Hay, Jared Veltsos, Andy Elliott, Joel Feid, and a bunch of others. The music is by All Time Low, Ida Maria, and Willie Nelson. It's 13 minutes and 33 seconds long. Stella you were one crazy but beautiful storm. Come back anytime. Just call first.

New Hampshire To Puerto Rico 1990 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

In March of 1990, four NH surfers went to PR for a much needed tropical break. Kevin "Doc" Grondin, Mike "Zappy" Paugh, John Duffy McCarthy, and yours truly. The cold and the snow was getting to us. Kevin and I left our pregnant wives home. Or rather, they LET US GO. I'm sure there was some kind of deal involved. But seriously folks, is there any wonder why we are still married to them? Love you both! Kim and Cory! It's hard to believe this was 27 years ago. Where does the time go...I don't want to know, I'm just filing space here. The soundtrack is by Beautiful People using Hendrix samples. The results are so cool. Check it out!

PR Winter 2014 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

This is the footage I shot in March of 2014. There's some Big Tres here and some other funky little spots. *Note The large surf at Wildos is worth the price of admission alone. There's additional footage from Max.

The music is from Miguel Tito Rodriguez. I met Miguel in Rincon last winter. He was playing outside with his bass player and I was completely blown away by his playing. The song is called De Juno. The man can rip on the six string. I hope you like this little Tropical Clip.

VALENTINE ROCK 2-14-17 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

February 14th, 2017 and I find the biggest heart shaped rock ever. Actually, I found it years ago, but have been waiting for a reason to use it in one of my web edits. And today my friends would be reason enough. After all, it's Valentine's Day. A day when we tell those we love that we love them. And not for nothing, we say we love each other every single day. We don't need a day to remind us to say love. I chose the song "It's Love" by my favorite band next to the Beatles and Hendrix, KING'S X. Those guys are the real deal. The surfers include: Joel Feid, Gilly Donatelli, Max Fatello, Chris Stelman, Andy Elliott, Marky J, Peter Stokes, and a bunch of Jersey boys. Be sure and get your sweethearts some sweets. Happy Valentines Day baby!
