Waiting For Hurricanes, and The Molly Contest, While Watching That Flying Squirrel on Donald Trump's Head.

I stood there leaning against the Wall on Thursday, taking photos while listening to local surfer Becca Speak tell me how she is having a difficult time waiting for real surf. I did all I could to not chuckle. I remember that feeling only too well. The impatient frustration of being a young surfer full of pent up energy, wanting bigger surf during the flat days of Summer.

My instinct was to say "Be patient little grasshopper, the waves will come. And those who understand this, will be rewarded with perfect surf." Then I realized that's not funny, especially to any surfer who really wants to surf. So I nodded my head in acknowledgment of the dilemma all surfers face in the summer. I feel your pain.

Thankfully I am beyond those days. I understand the summers.

This is Hurricane season. And there is not a single surfer I know who doesn't want a solid ground swell produced by some massive storm swirling out in the Atlantic. Sorry if there's damage to some of you living at the ocean's edge, and to lobster-men losing traps. But this is the world we live in here in New England.

Hurricanes and Nor'easters please send us more.

This coming Saturday will be the 7th annual MOLLY contest. Anyone who lives and surfs here knows what the MOLLY is. Molly Rowlee was a young grom who lived here in Hampton. She was one of the brightest lights that shined here.

In early 2009 she was diagnosed with Large cell lymphoma.

The most curable cancer out there. Apparently, it was not for 5 year old Molly. 5 months after she was diagnosed Molly was gone. There were so many fund-raisers happening when she was battling her cancer, that Molly's dad Buck and mother Meighan, wanted to keep the fund raiser going forward to help other children at Boston's Children Hospital. And that's exactly what the Rowlee family did.

Year after year having fund-raisers in her name. And her name became synonymous on the seacoast with surfing, community, love.

So the MOLLY was started by her mom and dad in 2009.

And the contest straight out of the gates was a full on celebration.

The first few years had both an adult contest and a grom contest.
The trick was you had to wear a costume and you had to ride the board that you picked out of a hat.

And trust me, none of the boards would be something you would want to ride. Which of course was perfect for the contest.

Was there laughing? Does Donald Trump have a strange head of hair? There is so much fun at the Molly that simply writing this brings
a smile to my face.

Try and make it down to 10th Street this Saturday, August 1st.

2015 and we are still honoring and remembering her name. And
we are still passing it forward. Hope to see you all there.

Hope you all had fun at the JIMMY DUNN Comedy Festival. Tonight is the last night if you want to catch Jimmy and his friends. Trust me, it's worth it. "Funny" is always a good reason to go out.

And so is music. My nephew Jesse QWILL was in town with his amazing bass player Jeff and the two of them made some of the coolest tunes around.

There is no shortage of talent on the seacoast that's for sure.

The photo above just reminded me, there is a benefit at the Hampton Flatbread on Tuesday July 28th, 2015. How cool is Flatbread with live music every Thursday. I'll be back there on August 13th, 2015.

This is a free offer to all NH Veterans. If you have any of these symptoms and were ever curious about
acupuncture, this would be a good time to check it out.

Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances
President Obama went to Kenya this week and met his sister Auna Obama. They kissed and embraced. Like brother and sisters should do. Is it me, or shouldn't Barack help his sister out? He can't toss her a bone to make her life more tolerable?

The Obamas meet in Kenya. I was touched by this.

Meanwhile back in the states it's been 24-7 TRUMP TV.
He said "John McCain was not a hero. And the only reason why he's called a hero is because he got shot down." He even said,
" I don't like people who get captured, I like people who don't get captured. I'm sorry."

McCain took the high road and said TRUMP does not owe him
an apology, but he should apologize to all the Veterans and their families, especially those who lost loved ones, and suffered
torture by their captives.

What the hell is that thing on his head? I mean check it out.

Not to pass on a hot look and topic, Ole KSM had his hair done at GITMO this week and well, I'll let you decide how it looks.

So once again, please enjoy the weekly humiliation of the mastermind terrorist who killed 3,000 innocent civilians on September 11th, 2001.
Khalid Sheik Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind behind 9-11 the captured Al Qeada ICON is getting his weekly slap in the face. You're welcome KSM fans.

* Note to self: Must pick up a case of Hair Spray at Home Depot

Happy Birthday Mick Jagger July 26, 2015!
*Facebook no longer gives me the weekly birthday
updates. They only send me daily ones. Sorry.

Please keep my sister Evamarie in your thoughts and prayers
and continue to send positive thoughts to our dear friend Meghan Evans and family, same with surf photographer Andrew Rebeiro and my dear friend Greg Brooks. Also say a prayer for my good friend Robert Gerard. And please continue to pray for local Hampton surfers Terry Morrison and Rick Fiorentini and their families. And lastly, please pray for Dave O'Connor. A good man, a great mentor to so many kids, and a wonderful school principal.

Please add them all to your prayer list. Thank you.

A Wave a day for 365 consecutive days.
Yesterday- Greg Smith Speed Style at The Wall 1975
(Below) I can't ever remember a time, when Greg Smith paddled out, he would have a bad day. He was one of the most gifted and talented surfers to ever come out of these parts. I have said many times over the years. "Greg has bigger balls then anyone else out here." And he did. It would be too much to try and explain some of the stunts he has pulled off, but trust me, there are many. The man could surf, and surf with style.

I know I'm making more out of this then I really should. But it occurred to me, that there were four blonde women surfing on longboards in front of my camera. The truth is, "Back in the day" you'd be lucky to see one woman out surfing. And there were at least 6 other women surfing within my eyesight this shoot. I just thought it was cool and I marveled at how far we have come.

Shark Attacks Mick Fanning at J-Bay Open

The most talked about incident in surfing's history. By now you all have heard about this. If you have not, you must live in a cave. This footage is really a miracle. The fact that this big white shark goes after Mick and grabbed his leash and hauled him under is scary enough. But the breast actually slapped him off his board. The Great White bitch slapped Mick. |

The real story to me was that Julian Wilson was paddling his ass off to help Mick. In other words, he was paddling towards the shark. He's the hero in all of this. Never before has a shark attacked a surfer in a pro contest. And it
was all live on the Internet.

MAYHEM at CHOPES

I'm calling this the MOST horrifying wipeout I have ever seen at Chopes. I have watched this a hundred times and I still don't know how this guy survived. I mean when you see it you'll have to agree. INSANE.

You want MORE insane CHOPES Wipeouts? Here they are.
Hold your breath and enjoy your selves.
