Let's Face It Everybody, 2016 Sucked. Still, Here's a Re-Cap.

My apologies for being late. One of the down sides of being a grandfather is you tend to catch whatever sickness the kids are having from week to week. The week of Christmas I was bedridden with a crushing cold and cough. In fact, it was the first time in over 30 years that I missed out on the Annual Mall games with my two friends. I felt better by New Years Eve, and then the very next day, I got hit with a nasty stomach bug. I now know what Bryan Ferry was singing about in his Roxy Music song "BOTH END'S BURNING."
Today was the first day that I could sit up. Day-um. So, let's get with it.

For those of you old enough (or hip enough) you will recognize the BEATLES Sgt Pepper's Design. This is pretty cool (sad). See if you can count them all. All the dead celebs, sports figures, musicians, and others.
But of all the people we lost in 2016, there are two who have left a deep hole in my life, and to those who knew and loved them. They are both real life heroes. Both warriors who never sought out any publicity or fame. They were both Marines. Combat Marine veterans. And they both fought in Korea and Vietnam. I miss them every single day.
Captain Jake Petronzio USMC (above)
and SSGT George Masten (below).
I know that my life is infinitely better for having known these two Marines.
I can't even begin to tell you what they meant to those of us who knew and loved them.
Suffice it to say, our world is a lot less colorful without their presence. May God Bless their souls, and comfort their grieving families.
Semper Fi Jake and George. I love and miss you both.
There were some good moments in 2016 around the seacoast and it came in the amount of good surf we had. Here's just a few samples of the MASSIVE BEST OF 2016 GALLERY I have posted this week. Seriously, grab yourself a cup of coffee and have at it.
March 2016 hanging out with our dear friends in Puerto Rico.
One of the many insane swells at the Wall. This is Chris Stelman, the photo was shot by Max Fatello.
One of the amazing Moon Rises we had this past year.

This week's pic reminds me of 2016. It flat out sucked. And I know, if Ed were here he'd agree. Though I'm not quite sure his heart would hold out with TRUMP being president..
To see more of Ed's pics just scroll through the archives. He has shot so many pics for the blog. Each week I will feature one of Ed's great pics from this blog. Photo by Ed O'Connell

Now for Some More Of My Weekly Global Observances
Did the Patriots really beat the Dolphins and close in on HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE all the way through the play-offs? Yup. They did what they couldn't do last year. So now we wait out a week. And watch and see how it all plays out. But if you're a real fan, you gotta be be sitting in a happy place right now.
Unlike this guy who got plastered by Floyd to spring Edleman for a TD. That block sent shock waves throughout the entire NFL. I am not a vengeful person (well, maybe a little bit) but I would give anything to see Roger Goodell hand Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and Robert Kraft that Lombardi Trophy for SUPER BOWL Championship number 5.
And, I would would consider giving my left testicle, if one of those three recipients were to smash that Trophy over Goodell's head.
I know I'm not alone (in the head smashing). God I despise that man.
Here's an IMPORTANT MESSAGE from the Rowlee Family.
Dear Molly Fund supporters,
I can't believe we are coming up on the end of our 6th year of The Molly Fund! Your generosity over the years has been overwhelming. Together we have donated close to $350,000 to Dana Farber for families with children battling cancer! Your donations have helped people right in our own little community.
But, we can do more. We have decided that it is time to move all administration of The Fund to Dana Farber. IT WILL STAY THE SAME AS IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN, but now we won't have to pay for any expenses associated with running a non-profit (accounting services, board insurance and office supplies). 100% OF YOUR DONATIONS WILL NOW GO DIRECTLY TO FAMILIES. Dana Farber is a non-profit and your donation will still be tax deductible. They will send me notifications of donations so I can personally thank you, and send a sticker.
**Effective immediately, checks will now be made out to:
Dana Farber Cancer Institute with Molly Rowlee fund in the Memo line.

KSM Photoshop of the Week
I took the liberty of creating a gallery of all of last year's KSM photoshop humiliations. Feel free to take a trip down memory lane and see all of the terrible things I did to this beast.
Simply CLICK on his Chest hair and view all of the KSM's from 2016.
So my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed).
*Note to self -must pick up a Weed Whacker and a case of Weed Killer at Home Depot this week.
Prayers and positive
thoughts to Erica Nardone's recovery.
Please pray for the family of Larry "Longboard Larry" Trinceri. His mother Joan passed away on December 20th, 2016. Losing a parent is hard, but losing one so close to the holidays is exceptionally hard. I hope that Larry and his family will find peace and solace during this difficult time.
Please
Support ALL The photographers who contribute to
Ralph's Pic Of The Week every week for the last 11 years.
** BUY a HIGH RES Photo
from any of the weeks on RPOTW.

(Below) This is the Camo board again. I know, I know I just posted some pics last week of this same board. Truth is I shot some video on the 30th with Max on this same board. Personally, I never liked the board that much. The Chine rails, and the camo color were all wrong. And, I am all about getting the color right. Still, I hung on to the thing, and now 33 years later my son is riding it. .
