Yesterday- Oh Say It Ain't So. Me under the Wall 1973.
(Below) This was taken at the Wall in 1973 by Jay Hammer. Now before you go casting insults my way, you need to know, that the glasses and the sandals DO NOT BELONG TO ME. I'm guessing they belonged to one of the girls back in the day. Kim Dreyer, Moira Daly, or any other of the single girls of that time period. However, the mustache and hair are all mine.

Photos and Story by The PHANTOM
People out here on the West Coast have been pontificating favorably about this ‘El Nino’ weather phenomena for so long..........that we half wondered if it was ever going to actually get here? Forecast charts finally started showing some real potential slated for this last Monday, so we loaded up my buddy’s boat and drove it deep up into Northern California to a remote fishing village, and prepared to launch pre-dawn to go find some waves that we’d only heard about via the Redwood Wireless...Would this indeed be California’s ‘kickoff’...?
Arriving off a remote section of coast, we found just a few other takers and the reefs exploding in full flower.........yes, El Nino had arrived. We spent the rest of what turned out to be one glorious day surfing a few different spots, enjoying a nice lunch onboard, and plenty of speculative analysis chitty chat as we drove around the small area and explored what this little isolated pocket in the coast had to offer. Few things in surfing for me equal this kind of satisfying adventure, and it’s nice when all the tumblers begin to click and fall together, and then BAM, the safe swings open and everyone on the boat feels like an instant millionaire.
Ralph, thought you’d enjoy the photos of the experience.
Regards,
The Phantom
