Yesterday- Back In The Day. 1970. (Below) I don't know about you guys but these wetsuits are painfully familiar to me. Man those things were hard to wear. This is a classic photo of three young Hampton surfers from back in the day. Left to right: Jay "The Rat" Hammer, Allen Bigbee, and Paul Lindstrom. Two of the three pictured here still surf today. But they all surfed when this photo was taken. And I guess we will all surf when we get to our final destination. Photo by courtesy of Paul Lindstrom |

(Above) Then there was this. A beach ball left to it's own devices. I watched a family hit the beach and throw all of their toys all over the place. The wind was gusting this morning out of the west. I saw this ball bounce by me and stop. I looked at the kids and parents who were throwing toys everywhere. The dad looked at the ball then went back to what he was doing. Which looked like he was in some weird zombie mode. The wind picked that ball up and moved it closer to the water. Nobody did a thing to stop it. Including me. Now some of you might ask. "Why did you not retrieve the beach ball Ralph and bring it back up the beach to the family?" Well it was low tide. I was working. And quite honestly, I felt like one of those National Geographic photographers who shoot a pride of lions attacking and killing a baby Wildebeast in Africa, and do nothing to save the young calf. I was documenting stupid humans on the beach. So I let nature take it's course. July 30, 2014. *WARNING The Beach ball does not make it. Today- SURFING 50 Years. 7/26/64 to 7/26/14. Photos by Cory Fatello (Above) Seems like yesterday. No it doesn't. It is hard to believe that I have actually been surfing that long. I guess it's true. Surfing is a lot like Golf. You can do it no matter how old and out of shape you get. This is me on my anniversary wave of 50 years of surfing. July 26th, 2014. Today- The European Surf Vacation. June-July 2014. Photos by Jimbo Kelly (Above) Jimbo Kelly spent a good part of this summer traveling and surfing throughout Europe. Most notably, France (above), England, and Ireland. There's a great piece on Jimbo's Wax in the new ESM magazine. Check it out. Summer 2014. Photo by Jimbo Kelly *Click on the photo above to see the whole gallery (Above) Ha. I've seen Ralph's markets, Ralph's restaurants, but never a Ralph's surf shop. This is in Croyde England. I thought the English had their shit together as far as the English language goes. Shouldn't there be an apostrophe in Ralph's? Summer, 2014.
